The U.S. government announced a contribution of more than US$38,500 for the preservation of the pre-Colombian spheres in Costa Rica’s southern Delta del Diquis in the region of the Osa Peninsula. The funds will support a hydrological study to analyze the behavior of soils and layers of the earth’s crust at the Finca 6 archaeological site where the surrounding rivers have covered evidence of the region’s former inhabitants and structures with sediment.
